Preponing the academic schedule of secondary and primary schools

The Telangana Private Schools Forum has challenged the decision of the state government in advancing the examination schedule of secondary and primary school examinations before the Hyderabad High Court.

The petitioners’ forum challenged the proceedings issued by the Commissioner and director of school education on March 19  preponing the academic schedule of secondary and primary schools in the state. It contended that the proceedings were contrary to the schedule given in May 2014.  The forum urged the court to declare the proceedings as illegal and without jurisdiction and to direct the authorities to adhere to the schedule given during May 2014 for the academic year 2014-15.

On the other hand, the government counsel strongly opposed the petitioner’s contentions when the case came up for hearing before Justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar on Friday.

The counsel submitted that the government has decided to complete the examinations of primary and secondary schools by April 11 as most of the higher school teachers will be on spot valuation of SSC Board exams between April 11 and 24 and teachers will not be available for invigilation for the annual examination of the schools.

While posting the case to Monday, the judge directed the Forum to file its objection to the government’s submissions.
