Telangana education minister G Jagadishwar Reddy has affirmed that his government is making efforts to implement the flagship KG-to-PG free education programme from the next academic year.
Speaking at a ‘get-together’ organised by the Telangana Union of Working Journalists here on Saturday, he said that the government was keen on initiating action against private school managements that were collecting exorbitant fees and aimed at putting a system in place that monitors the fee charged by the institutions.
He said that he would attach huge importance to promotion of government schools and colleges across the state.
He alleged that all institutions and sectors, including education, had taken a beating in the Telangana region of united Andhra Pradesh and added that his government would address the falling standards of education.
He assured journalists that the government was committed to resolving their issues like providing health cards and providing free education to their children. TUWJ president N Shekar and secretary-general of Indian Journalists Union Devulapalli Amar also spoke.
