  • Telangana builders extend cement purchase holiday by a week
         The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of builders in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, represented by The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) along with other associations, have decided to extend the cement purchase holiday by a week from July 19 to July 26.


  • Andhra Pradesh heroes out from Telangana university names

         Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced after a Cabinet meet on Wednesday after the Cabinet meet that N.G. Ranga Agricultural University and Venkateswara Veterinary University will be split and renamed after TRS ideologue Prof. K. Jayashankar and former PM P.V. Narsimha Rao.Officials said the Telugu University and NTR University of Health Sciences will also be split by the end of the year.Almost all the major universities and institutions located in Hyderabad are named after personalities hailing from the Andhra region. Acharya N.G. Ranga was a freedom fighter hailing from Guntur district.  Potti Sriramulu hailed from Prakasam district and fought for the cause of Andhra while N.T. Rama Rao hailed from Krishna district.

  • Retiring staff a headache for Telangana, Andhra govts
         AP has increased the retirement age to 60, Telangana is persisting with the current 58 for state government employees. Of the over 51,000 employees in united AP government, nearly 10,000 were allotted to Telangana on a temporary basis pending the final decision of the Kamalanathan Committee report which has been entrusted with the task of dividing the employees between the two states. As a result, several Andhra employees have been temporarily allotted to Telangana and vice versa.

  • Two film studios land in trouble
          It can be recalled that before the formation of Telangana, the present IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao and irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, staged protests against giving back land to these studios, when it was taken over by the past government for using it for purposes other than it was granted for.

  • No Telangana bus passes to Andhra students?
         After fee reimbursement, the Telangana government has threatened to review bus passes to students belonging to Andhra Pradesh. Transport minister P Mahender Reddy on Saturday said he would discuss with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and take a decision on issuing bus passes to AP students.

  • Investments promised to Telangana please K Chandrasekhar Rao
        Referring to the investment climate in Telangana state, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said, “I am very happy on the investment front. Many top industrialists are coming to meet me and evincing interest to invest here. Even some top politicians from other states are making telephone calls to me and saying that their relatives or friends want to invest in Telangana state and are coming to meet me. They are saying that earlier the investors faced several problems on account of huge political corruption and the situation has changed for the better now. This is something which I am very happy about.”

  • Telangana power body gets new boss
        Gouravaram Raghuma Reddy, the director (commercial) for the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited, assumed additional charge as the chairman and managing director of the TSSPDCL on Saturday.Mr Reddy is a post graduate in engineering from Osmania University College of Engineering and he joined APSEB as assistant engineer in 1978. He has a rich and varied experience spanning over 36 years in all areas of electricity distribution system. Gouravaram Raghuma Reddy takes over from Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi.

  • Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Chief Secretarys to meet on July 23
        The Centre has summoned  chief secretaries of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to New Delhi on July 23 to resolve the issue of distribution of employees between the states. Officials from Department of Personnel and Training will also participate  in the meeting.

  • Cops ask civic body to educate people on Safety Act in Telangana
         Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, along with GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar today inspected several areas in Punjagutta and Lakdi-ka-pul here along with their departmental officials.

  • Telangana to be Made 'Suicide-free' State
         KCR stated this while participating in the ‘Mana Pattanam-Mana Pranalika’ programme at the 30th and 31st divisions of the Karimangar Municipal Corporation here on Saturday. Claiming that the TRS leaders considered themselves as public servants and not as rulers, he added that the party was committed to working for the welfare of the poor and development of the state. He said that the programmes ‘Mana Vooru- Mana Pranalika’ and ‘Mana Pattnam- Mana Pranalika’ were the outcome of this commitment.
