The transport department is all set to issue a final Government Order (GO) to the vehicle owners in Telangana state to change their registration number plates from AP to TS.
About 40 days ago, a preliminary notification was issued by the transport department where suggestions and comments were sought. With private vehicles required to pay entry taxes for travelling between the two states, people from other states working in the IT hub Hyderabad will be required to change the vehicle’s registration apart from paying a lifetime tax and taking a no objection certificate.
An additional life tax will be required to pay to change the registration number for all the vehicles bought in AP districts and are plying in Telangana, said Waseem Memon, RTA activist and founder of Drive Without Borders.
Earlier only a clearance certificate was required for the vehicles bought within the undivided state, however, the people who have not obtained the CCs will be required to pay life time tax that will be between 5-22 percent depending on the vehicle. The major loss would be to the vehicle owners in the border districts.
