Job : issue rocks Telangana assembly

The issue of growing unrest over jobs rocked Telangana assembly on Friday and, the main opposition Congress, walked out protesting the TRS government's failure to fill over one lakh vacancies in various departments.

Trouble started when speaker S Madhusudhana Chary disallowed a notice on adjournment motion moved by the Congress which wanted a debate on the police lathicharge on unemployed youth and students when they tried to take out a march from Osmania University campus to the assembly on Wednesday.

Even as the opposition demanded an immediate notification for recruitments, leader of the opposition K Jana Reddy took objection to the speaker's refusal to allow adjournment motion. "It has become a norm to disallow adjournment motions whenever they are moved by opposition parties. Unemployment is a burning issue and it must be debated in the House. While it is unfair to disallow the adjournment motion, at least a short discussion must be allowed," said Jana Reddy.

BJP floor leader K Laxman, CPI's Ravindra Kumar Ramavath, and CPM's Sunnam Rajaiah criticized the TRS for not keeping its electoral promise of providing jobs to the youth in the new state.
