  • Heavy rain in Telangana likely over next 24 hours
         A low-pressure area over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha might lead to heavy rains in Telangana over the next 24 hours.According to the Indian Met Department, associated upper air cyclonic circulation has extended up to 7.6 km above mean sea level which may become a well-marked low-pressure area.

  • Non-locals have right in Telangana
         The BJP senior leader Subramanian Swamy, on Sunday cautioned Telangana government against deviating from the rules of nativity by fixing 1956 as cut-off year for the purpose, since any deviation in this regard will attract action under Article 256 of the Constitution. Speaking at an interactive session, Mr Swamy took objection to Telangana raising the issue of nativity and creating fear among the people of other states living in Hyderabad.“Telangana is a part of the Union of India and non-locals have every right to live in the state,”

  • CK Birla Group to expand ops in Telangana
         Group to also invest substantially in the medical and education sector in the nascent state.
The $1.6-billion CK Birla Group proposes to expand the operations of its cement and asbestos manufacturing units located in Telangana. It is also planning to make substantial investments  in the medical and education sector, in the nascent state which came into existence on June 2, this year.

  • Telangana offers 3 lakh acres for industry
         In a fresh drive to promote industries and attract investments in Telangana, the Government will make available about 3 lakh acres, said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

  • White cards to regulate sops
         The Telangana government is all set to delink white ration cards with welfare schemes once it starts issuing new ration cards with the ‘Telangana logo’ from September.The linking of white cards with fee reimbursement, scholarships, Aarogyasri etc. during the Congress regime between 2004 and 2014 had led to large scale bogus ration cards with their number surpassing the total number of households in the state.

  • Essential drug prices to reduce
         The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority is thinking of bringing highly used medicines and vaccines for viral infections, asthma, tuberclosis, malaria and a small section of cancer drugs, under the essential prices list. Eight therapeutic categories where incidence of disease is high and medicines are used widely are being scrutinised by the government.
